I am Maureen Moore, resident of Shelburne Falls, MA. I once taught American History, owned a small bookstore, lived on an avocado grove, had a small farm stand, raised and sold heirloom tomato seedlings and fruit, raised lots of chickens and sold eggs, then moved to the Eden of Shelburne to write a few poems and essays, publish a literary journal for a few years and then, happy day!, I discovered, belatedly but enthusiastically, the joys of watercolor.  I have been really fortunate to benefit from the tutelage and example of exceptionally talented local artists such as Walt Cudnohofsky, Paula Gottlieb, Louise Minks, and fellow members of the Deerfield Valley Association.  I also studied with the colorist Tom Tiedman, Jan LaFazio and others when living in California.

The pleasure of art lies in closely looking to see the richness of the tiny details of the world around us that too often go unseen, unappreciated because we move too fast.  Slowing down, with brush in hand comes the challenge, the fun, of trying to capture what excites the eye.  My work is exhibited locally and online at FineArtAmerica, Zazzle, and Pinterest.  My website thebooksmythpress.com  is home to my book design business, Ginger Cat Designs: Home of the Booksmyth Press.
